Leslie Toombs

In 1996, I spent a month at the Instituto de Allende learning rug and tapestry weaving. Tapestry weaving led to study of "cartoon" drawing, a drawing you use as a guide to weave from. From there I studied watercolor, pastel, acrylic and oil painting and also discovered a talent for dyeing.

My current loves are pastel painting and painting with a mix of media. I also make my own clay and tempera paint for use in mixed media painting and even painted my studio walls with it. My pastels and mixed media clay paintings truly sparkle as the light changes during the day. I paint predominantly people and landscapes and love to experiment.
